THE VILLAGE OF FLOWERS

Spello is part of the circuit of the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy" and walking to discover its art and history will prove to be a pleasant surprise. It is a small historic center to visit even in a few, a place where you can breathe and rediscover the evidence of the ancient Umbrian, Roman, medieval and Renaissance presences. Spello stands on a spur of Mount Subasio and was built with the pink stone coming from the mountain itself, so much so that it shines with a surprising color at sunset.

WHAT TO SEE

Here you will find yourself, especially in the spring and summer, walking among stone houses and streets of the center so full of colorful flowers that they seem like real photo sets. I found many in every season, but it is especially in the months of June and July that the entire village competes for the event "Windows, Balconies and Flowering Alleyways" a real competition among the inhabitants who decorate balconies, windows, streets and doors with colorful flower plants, a delight for the eyes that deserves not to miss even a corner.

The Church of Santa Maria Maggiore houses a chapel entirely frescoed by Pinturicchio, the Baglioni Chapel, commissioned by a prelate of the Baglioni family in 1500.

GO TO SPELLO

Driving in central Italy offers an unforgettable experience, passing through rolling hills, vineyards and medieval hilltop villages. The route winds along scenic roads immersed in greenery, with spectacular views of sunflower fields, cypress trees and olive groves, with the Apennines looming on the horizon. The natural beauty blends with the rich history and culture of the region
