A "DOCG" VILLAGE
Montefalco is known to all as the village of Sagrantino DOCG (a wine famous for its bouquet characterized by aromas of red fruits, cinnamon and earth) and Montefalco DOCG. Two wines that you absolutely must try during your stay at Borgo di Gallano!
WHAT TO SEE
The medieval imprint of the town is clearly visible, thanks to the presence of numerous historic buildings and beautiful ancient monuments. The town is enclosed in the mighty and compact 13th century walls, interrupted by five gates, which allow access to the interior of this beautiful village.
The medieval fabric of the village is dominated by the mass of the church of Sant'Agostino, built together with the convent in the second half of the 13th century on top of a small building dedicated to San Giovanni Battista with frescoes inside from the school of Ambrogio Lorenzetti and Bartolomeo Caporali.
If you find yourself in Montefalco you cannot miss a visit and tasting at one of the farms inside and outside the walls.
PERTICAIA WINERY
Treat yourself to the experience of a visit to our “Perticaia” winery with wine and oil tasting. A sensory journey through the discovery of our traditions, the territory and our winemaking culture. After the harvest, entirely manual, the grapes are taken to the new winery for winemaking; fermentation is triggered in a completely natural way, thanks to the sole use of indigenous yeasts, that is, naturally present on the skins.
